A Piece of Art
I still remember my first bite of Lauren’s amazing cake. It was like being in a cake heaven! The biscuit soft and airy, the filling light and with a right amount of sweetness – a perfect cake!
It was a French Chic Wedding in Ibiza, which my husband Youri Claessens and me captured and where we saw Lauren’s work for the first time. The Wedding Cake was beautifully decorated, a piece of art, colourful and unique. I knew, this artist from Barcelona I definitely need to meet!
The Flying Cake Lady – About Lauren
Lauren did her first patisserie course at Le Cordon Bleu in London, after her bachelor graduation from Marketing and Communication. She always loved being creative, like an artist who makes unique sculptures. Back in Amsterdam she started her first company Life of Pie. At this time she was 23 years old, a young and passionate entrepreneur. More orders started to roll in, the team and the business grew.
Three years later Lauren moved to Barcelona and started a new adventure: Casa de Pastel. She offers custom made cakes and pastry for every celebration, if birthday, wedding, baby shower or other event. Every costumer can choose between different sizes, flavours, filling and decorations to get his piece of edible art. At the moment Lauren is flying back and forth between Barcelona, Amsterdam and Ibiza. I’m pretty sure that she will fly and deliver soon more destinations because her cakes are incredibly delightful, tasty and unique, like her!
Behind the Scenes
It was such a pleasure to capture Lauren! It was wonderful seeing her working on a new cake creation, capturing her steps while decorating an engagement cake. Her small kitchen was filled with so many nice treats, I barely couldn’t resist. She explained me every step she took, in decoration and in life. It was lovely to see her passion and hearing about her future projects. She is wonderful, joyful person with a great potential and I wish her all the best with every future project she likes to realise!
